These two tombs from the fifteen hundreds are located on the wall and on the pavement inside the main chapel from the church of Pombeiro. One on the tombs is from Mateus da Cunha, from the XVI century with a Manueline style and which construction is ascribed to Diogo Pires-o-Moço; the other tomb is from Vão da Cunha, prior of Martinho de S. Guinhêda.

The present temple was built in 1776, starting to serve as the Parish church of Massarelos when Santa Maria da Boa Viagem church ruined. The current church is divided in three parts by pilasters: on the central part there is a gate with a broken pediment with one niche from where it is possible to see the Saint Patron image, S. The current construction began in 1162, during the reign of King Afonso Henriques. It served as the Episcopal See until 1772 and subsequently belonged to the Misericórdia (a charitable institution) until 1778.
