Planed by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira to the Expo 98, the building is inspired in the Portuguese architecture typologies. It belonged to the Franciscan until 1526 and to the Santo Agostinho Eremites until 1834. In the end of the XVII century and beginning of the XVIII century the convent was rebuilt. From the original plan only stands the Manueline granite portal of the main façade.
