Originating in the nucleus founded in 1942 by the Fundão native who gives it its name, the José Monteiro Municipal Archaeological Museum, opened in 2007, is located in the former Solar Taborda Falcão de Elvas, and has a permanent exhibition room with several pieces tfrom prehistory to the end of the Roman period, a space for temporary exhibitions, an auditorium, a conservation and restoration laboratory, a library specializing in History and Archeology, an Internet space and a bar.

In this Museum are exposed various materials from the municipality of Monforte, mostly Roman, collected during the excavations in the Roman villa of Torre de Palma. All objects found are grouped by categories like "Roman Necropolis", "Roman coins", "Agriculture and construction Material," "costume" and "weaving and kitchen and table". Highlight is some stucco paintings (on the site of the altar mor), and some carved granite columns. Are classified as Property in the public interest.

Space where you can learn a little about the history of the people of Borba, known through the eyes of Joaquim Azinhal Abelho, born in Orada, where he was born on April 13, 1911. He had a degree in Romance Philology and ended up developing a great interest in the Alentejo ethnography, in addition to being a compiler of the Cartas de Florbela Espanca. He died in Lisbon, but is buried in the Orada cemetery.

Dom Dinis ordered these walls and the castle construction, composed by creneled walls, turrets, an enormous keep, ditches and barbican. In 1580 during the Filipe’s occupation, the castled underwent several damages. The castle still preserves thirteen turrets and three doors; one of them is Traição (Betrayal) door. One should point out the square turret, the Palace Cristóvão de Moura ruins and the urban agglomerate inside the fence.

This residential estate was built by orders of D. João de Castro, viceroy in India and afterwards it suffered profound changes. It is possible to find several chapels throughout the estate, one of which is named Nossa Senhora do Monte and it is a construction under the Renaissance style, from 1542. It has a circular plan and on its inside it is possible to see six columns with capitals and ashlars in tiles from the XVII century.

Comprising two sections, a ground floor and a main floor, it features an entrance gate with a coat of arms at the top. The chapel is set back from the building, and an inscription on the lintel indicates it was built by Pedro Vaz C. de Sousa.
