Statue that pays homage to João de Deus. João de Deus was an eminent lyrical poet who, during his lifetime, was considered to be foremost amongst his peers. He was also the pioneer of a new teaching method that aimed to simplify teaching reading to children, the Cartilha Maternal. He was very popular during his lifetime and as such was laid to rest at the National Pantheon (Panteão Nacional). To this day he is still referred to as the poet of love.

Chapel featuring revivalist architecture. Inside the chorus loud and pulpit are in the hand of the Gospel and the main altarpiece is carved in white, with neoclassic style. The Chapel is the 18th season with some Gothic Revival, existing Windows and glasses of the main façade. This property was probably constructed during the 12th century and reconstructed in 1888. On the main façade there is a portico with three archivolt decorated with zoomorphic motifs and fitomorphic. The perfectly vaulted arches are settled in columns with worked capitals. On the inside, the main altar is in golden carving, the roof is filled by dozens of paintings representing biblical scenes and images with the apostles and saints. It also has a nativity scene typically baroque.

This church has a rectangular plan and it is covered by polychrome glazed tiles from 1660, a bell ringer tower and an apse articulating four chapels. IT preserves the Manueline Calvary in marble and several sculptures. The main chapel possesses coverage in lancet vault with corbels decorated by wall paintings. The main altarpiece is with composite columns articulating niches filled with covered foot with the respective images.

This church has one only nave with a high choir, main chapel and lateral chapel. It was integrated on a Franciscan Monastery from which it is kept the porch with three arches. The portico holds the Renaissance outline as well as the funerary chapel from D. Francisco Coutinho. On the inside stands out the fifteen hundreds paintings and the ceiling covered with coffers. Next to the main chapel there is a defensive tower.
