This temple was constructed on the 15th century and it presents a late gothic style with a sober character. It exist some Renaissance characteristics on the altarpieces, namely the one on the main chapel and mannerist on the altarpieces from the nave chapels.

Built in the 16th century, the temple underwent modifications in the 17th century. The main Renaissance portico has a round arch and is framed by two pilasters. Of note is the complete polychrome tile covering from 1659.

Baroque style work built in the early XVIII century. It has a nave and a main chapel with two addorsed sacristies. Inside are worthy of note the carving and the glazed tiles from the late XVII century.

From the fifteen hundreds period, the church still preserves the Manueline door, with slender columns and decoration using vegan elements. The Calvary, placed in the church yard is from the 17th century, as well.

There is a small auditorium and letters, manuscripts, translations and rare printings of the poet, as well as several portraits signed by artists such as Auusto Gomes, Júlio Resende, Armando Alves, José Rodrigues and Lagoa Henriques.

It is believed that the primitive building was built in the 14th century, working at the time as a watchtower. It was later remodeled in 1573, suffering more reconstructions in the following centuries. It consists of a longitudinal plan composed, with a single nave and a square chancel, with coverage in fake wooden barrel vault on the ship and in "alfarge" style in the chancel. Despite medieval origin, the Church denotes a large Renaissance influence.
