Built on top of a hill, 665 meters above sea level and with an excellent command over the surrounding landscape, this Iron Age fortified town stands out for its trapezoidal plan given by the three lines of granite walls, making it the residential area delimited by the first line of wall torn by three access entrances. There were previously 36 metal frame mills in the municipality of Cadaval, which reflects the importance of cereal production. This mill is one of the remaining ones, now serving, after being deactivated in 1995 and purchased by the City Council, as cultural and educational equipment, covering the municipality's mills, the work of the millers and the bread cycle in an educational way.

Planed by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira to the Expo 98, the building is inspired in the Portuguese architecture typologies. It was one of the most visited pavilions at the expo and is now one of the ex-libris of the Parque das Nações and the place of international political meetings. The impressive “concrete sheet” suspended at the exterior gives the construction a singular touch of modernity.

The landscape of Pico Island's vineyard culture comprises the Lajido da Criação Velha and Lajido de Santa Luzia, occupying a total of 154 hectares. These sites are excellent representations of traditional architecture, landscape design, and natural elements, located on extensive lava fields. They are characterized by extreme richness and geological and scenic beauty. The diversity of fauna and flora present there is associated with an abundance of endemic, rare, and protected species and communities. Since 2004, the landscape of Pico Island's vineyard culture has been classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

This ancient monastery founded in the 12th century is dedicated to tourism today, featuring eight bedrooms and a suite. Their ancestral history, it is known that, at the time of Dom Afonso Henriques, the monastery remained the Cistercian order until 1834, the time of its extinction.
