Modern library consists of a collection of 25 thousand books, 8,000 of whom donated by Augusto Cesar de Carvalho, a former Mayor. In addition to the reading rooms, it also has a multipurpose room that hosts exhibitions and an audiovisual room.

In this space are organized temporary exhibitions of ancient books, painting and sculpture.

The library opened in September 2009, to offer reading rooms for adults and children, child entertaiment room and a multipurpose room for conducting exhibitions, conferences and meetings with writers.
