Along the coast of Santa Maria island there are several islets of considerable dimensions, most notably the Ilhéu de São Lourenço, accessible only by boat.

A vast stretch of sand with fine, clear sand, the waters are popular with surfers and those who enjoy warmer waters. It's easily accessible and relatively quiet.

A beach with rather difficult accesses. The best path is by the road that leads to the Ponta da Piedade lighthouse. Located at the bottom of a cliff it is usually attended by naturists.

This route begins along the woods of Canary, a tarmac (about 100 metres) that descends along a aqueduct to the wall of Nine Windows. After a climb that passes through the ridge of the blue lagoon of the seven Cities, there is a descent to the seven cities.

Located in the city's historic district, this museum is housed in a beautiful late 19th-century building. This exhibition space for the city's cultural heritage features collections covering various aspects of local history, from the Paleolithic to the present day.

The doors D'El Rei are the main entrance to the walled enclosure that surrounds the city, located in the southern part, between two embattled towers. On the outside, feature a bow down and, inside, an arch in warhead. Emphasis on the shield of the city, in stone.

Tumulus about 8.5 m maximum diameter, features plated remains and lithic tumuli reasonably visible, a result of the great depression. The Chamber there are six Struts that outcrop at the surface, some of them to about half a meter. The mainstay which looks as if it belonged at the head emerges over one meter. The tumulus is located in a small ground, on the right side of the road that connects Pedrário to Meixide, along a seam of Quartz. This is a great example of how visible would be the construction of a tapir.

Garden paying homage to the republican historian and archaeologist Anselmo Braamcamp Freire, although it is known among the inhabitants as Campo de Sant' Anna. It has trees, such as a cedar of Himalayas, a secular tree known as lovers’ tree. There are some statues, such as the statue of Sousa Martins. It has an esplanade, a multifunction pavilion, playground and lake.

Located 25 kilometers from the town center is this monument of probable Arab origin. Rebuilt after the 1531 earthquake, it features an interesting sculpture above the main gate, where three castles and an eagle are visible. After assuming great defensive importance, it lost its usefulness over the years, and only between 1941 and 1954 did it undergo renovations that gave it its current appearance, with two towers. It served as a prison during the Middle Ages.

Nuno Gonçalves was Alcaide-mor of the Castle de Faria, in the reign of Ferdinand I of Portugal. At this point the troops of Castile invaded our country. Taken prisoner by the Castilians, was taken to the walls of Castelo de Faria, in an attempt to convince his son, Gonçalo Nunes, then Chief of the garrison, to surrender. However, Nuno Gonçalves took the opportunity to urge his son to the resistance, and was promptly shot down. This episode became a legend and narrated by Alexandre Herculano.
