Traces of a strong military architecture, 17th century, bastions in clod of polygonal plant, with outer moat and covered path. Is one of the strong in "architecture of the Earth" still subsisting in Portugal, being totally built in clod (mixture of Earth, clay, pebbles and stone uvula), without any trace of masonry. Hidden from the city of Horta by Monte Queimado, Porto Pim Beach has soft, black sand, very typical of these volcanic islands. The bay of Porto Pim is, without a doubt, a place of rare beauty.
