The Old School House, in Vila Viçosa, is a 16TH century manor, purchased in 1602 by Dom Teodósio II, Duke of Braganza. It was the first home of the society of Jesus in Vila Viçosa. The outer wall, semicircular in shape, surrounded the medieval village and the so-called Old Castle. Today, only the remains of the castle with four turrets and a gate, the ruins of the Church of São Tiago, a 14th-century construction, and the Palace of the Mayors remain.
