The Almedina Arch was part of the medieval walls, dating back to the 11th century, as indicated by the Arabic-origin toponym meaning "the city". Today it is the entrance to old Coimbra, where one can see a sculpture from the workshop of João de Ruão. The wall has Roman origins, having been expanded several times. It presents characteristics of Roman, Muslim, Romanesque, Gothic and Manueline architecture.

The house consists of 2 distinct parts: the first is characterized by the porch and the columns that support it; the second, with a single floor, becomes symbolic due to the façade, on which the coat of arms, the plaque and the framed door are located.

The early church was built in the 16th century, which remains the Manueline portal. In 1970 was destroyed to make way for that today. The façade is rounded and consists of nave, chancel, belfry and vestry. Inside you can see 17TH century tiles and a wooden bench at the entrance, 1635, rebuilt during the rebuilding of the new Church. Currently, in late August, receives the feasts of Nossa Senhora do Desterro.

The Official Dark Sky Observatory is located in Cumeada, Reguengos de Monsaraz, in a former elementary school. The space was converted and adapted to house the Official Dark Sky Alqueva Observatory. It features a permanent exhibition of astrophotography by astrophotographer Miguel Claro and a mini-museum where you can touch a real meteorite, see the original autograph of the last astronaut to walk on the moon, and other interesting facts.

This construction began in 1912. After some time of inactivity, it was concluded by the sculptures Henrique Moreira and Sousa Caldas. On top of the 45 meters height granite column, you can see a lion, symbolizing Portugal, dominating an eagle, Napoleon’s symbol. On the columns’ lower part there two sculptures of the Generals Sepúlveda and Silveira. At the bottom of the monument there’s a representation of the “Victory” leading the troops and the people and the “Barcas Disaster”.

A monument with a cylindric column, topped by a chapiter with romanic elements with suspension rings. The zoomorphic figure, known as the "porca da vila" (villages female pork), sculptured in granite, stands on a platform with four steps. There is a cylindric column that has, on the top, a cross with equal arms. The tops of those arms represent a bird, a dog, a man and vegetal motives. On the top of the cross, one can see a shield.

Calheta de São Jorge

This islet plan with about twenty hectares of extension was classified as Partial Natural Reserve in 1984. The whole island and the adjacent coast were classified as a Special Protection area due to the importance of its avifauna. Here can be found several species, with emphasis on the common tern cagarro, garajau – rosado and angelito. Access is prohibited but, for those who want to see, just go to the viewing point of the tip.
