Located in a protected area, right in the Gerês National Park, the dam of Vilarinho das Furnas is surrounded by roman archaeological vestiges and time honoured landmarks. It is a dam on the Homem river (Cávado river basin). Sports and leisure are permitted with a few restrictions.

Large shopping centre, operating since 1990, consisting of four floors. Features a large parking lot and a shopping area with 31021 square meters. It is a building adapted, with commercial function, housing 36 shops, a hypermarket, five restaurants and a bank.
