The funicular railway connects the lower part of Nazaré to Sítio, covering a total of 318 meters. It was inaugurated in 1889, as the difficulty of access to Sítio always hampered the development of the area and the settlement of its inhabitants. In 1963, after a major accident, it was out of service for several years, returning to service in 1968. In the 21st century, the carriages were renovated for greater comfort and safety for the more than one million users who use this means of transport annually.

The Stupa Tashi Gomang, a temple belonging to the Guhya Mantrika Buddhist community, is located in the Santa Susana Retreat Center in Alcácer do Sal. It is one of the largest Buddhist temples in the Western world, standing 16 meters tall with an internal temple measuring 36 square meters, prepared for rituals, ceremonies, and lectures. Among the materials used in its construction, Alentejo marble stands out. The decoration, particularly the statues, originates from Tibet and Nepal.

The construction date of this temple is estimated to be 1262, judging by the inscription at the entrance, although it may correspond to the reconstruction of an old 11th-century hermitage which, in turn, was built on a 7th-century Suevi-Visigothic building – archaeological excavations carried out in 1991 revealed a structure belonging to a pre-Romanesque temple. Of particular note is the existence of an image of Our Lady of Meinedo, in limestone and with traces of polychromy, which constitutes one of the rare examples of Romanesque sculpture in Portugal.

Classified as a national monument, it is one of the ex-libris of the city and one of the most original examples of the Baroque style in Portugal, having been built at the behest of D. João de Mendonça, Bishop of Guarda, around 1720. The Roman House was the first museum section of the Mértola Museum to open in 1989. It is located in the basement of the City Hall building. During renovation work, important archaeological remains corresponding to the foundations of a Roman house (today it serves as the main building) emerged. In addition to the walls of the old building, where part of the house's impluvium stands out, period architectural elements, funerary epigraphy, ceramics, and metalwork are on display. Each section has a permanent exhibition related to its theme.

Created in an old mill, this museum structure was created to teach the visitors the traditional production process of olive oil, as well as the importance it assumed in the local economy. It is spread over three floors and there you can find the old millstones and presses, where the village's oil was produced until 1995. On the way out, the visitor is invited to taste different types of olive oil and outside, you can admire an olive grove, as well as the Zêzere, which runs behind the building.
