The Woods of the Boa Viagem Hill are the larges forest reservation by the town of Figueira da Foz. With an area of 400 hectares, it is a lovely natural and landscape example, with seeveral leisure areas for its visitors. There is a picnic area with much shade and a playground.

Located within the Serra do Açor Protected Landscape Area, near the village of Benfeita, Fraga da Pena is a kind of miniature replica of Poço do Inferno in the Serra da Estrela mountain range. As the waters of the Barroca das Degrainhas stream flow towards the Ribeira da Mata stream, they encounter a drop of more than 20 meters, forming a waterfall and, below, a small lagoon. The rock formation is entirely covered in moss and surrounded by vegetation. The temperature there, even in summer, is extraordinarily low.

The Mondego River is the largest Portuguese river, rising in the Serra da Estrela, at a place called Mondeguinho, at an altitude of approximately 1,425 meters, and flowing 258 kilometers into the Atlantic Ocean near Figueira da Foz. Its tributaries are the Dão River on the right bank, and the Alva, Ceira, and Arunca Rivers on the left.

From the bridge on the Arouce river to the abandoned village of Talasnal, there is a whole variety of flora and fauna that the Quercus organization has been aiming to preserve. The Lousã mountain is the western continuation of the Central Iberian ridge. An area of large chestnut trees and several preying birds, as well as boars, weasels, genets and badgers.

The Lousã mountain range, whose highest point is Trevim (at 1204 meters), is one of the highest points in central Portugal and occupies around a third of the municipality's area. The forest that covers this mountain range, made up mainly of maritime pine, also has several indigenous species, including oak and chestnut and exotic species such as cherry and walnut.

A protected area located between the Douro and Tagus rivers, southwest of Sabugal. It measures 25 kilometers long and 2.5 kilometers wide, reaching its highest point at 1,000 meters above sea level. It is full of ravines and streams, with the Côa River, the Meimoa Stream, and the Bazágueda Stream originating here. Among the flora, holm oaks and cork oaks, oaks and strawberry trees, leafy hogweed, gorse, sargassum, hazel, wild oak or wild cherry, ancient chestnut trees, and cork oaks stand out.
