The church was rebuilt in the 16th century, but today it retains little of its original design. On the main façade, the Manueline portal, framed by pilasters with Renaissance decorative elements, and the 16th-century bell tower stand out. Inside, the 18th-century tile cladding, the Baroque carved altarpiece, and the 16th-century paintings of an old altarpiece deserve special attention.

A Neoclassical church with a single nave and chancel, with an attached bell tower and sacristy. The interior features a high choir with a depressed arch, built-in confessionals, two pulpits with polychrome carved full-height guards, and two side altarpieces and two side altarpieces with Neoclassical corner posts. The Romanesque church of the monastery of Pombeiro was one of the few in Portugal to obey the plan of three naves, which reveals the importance of this House in the medieval context of the country.
