The spontaneous vegetation, manifested in an extensive pine forest, is one of the attractions of this protected site. However, the interest in the place does not end there. At its summit, the chapel of São Bartolomeu, or São Brás, is a place of pilgrimage. Moreover, the legend of the image of Our Lady of Nazaré, intimately linked to the site, is well known in these parts. From an archaeological point of view, the prehistoric hill fort located here is a particularly interesting element to be discovered amidst the landscape.

Manueline architecture and Baroque church consists of a nave and a chancel with indoor coverage in vaults. The primitive construction, dating from the 12th century, was donated by d. Dinis to the order of the Trinity. The current building dates from the early 16TH century.

Emblazoned house dated from the XVIII century, with large rooms and furniture from the same period. Near here is a golf course.

Chiesa Madre (mother church) with Greek cross floorplan. Experts say that the building and its decoration have been considered as a coherent whole. So, being, managed to articulate the neoclassical language with the regional building tradition.

Placed at the Palácio Pimenta, a manor dated from the early XVIII century; in this space you may see archaeological pieces, paintings, drawings, engravings and lapidary that illustrate the city of Lisbon, since the prehistoric period till nowadays. Among the works in exhibition the “O Fado”, by José Malhoa and a oil-painting of Dirk Stoop stand out. The earthquake of 1755 is here shown with images of devastation and reconstruction projects.

Coat-Manor House dating from the early 18TH century. It has two floors with access staircase to the terrace that accompanies the facade and a chapel in honour of Nossa Senhora da Conceição.

Dating from the early 15TH century, this church is one of the oldest of the Azores. Currently, the primitive structure, only the Gothic side door and a roof in Manueline style in the chapel of Santa Catarina.
