Located at the Alcântara centre, it was one of the rare constructions that stood the earthquake of 1755. The palace has beautiful gardens, where you may enjoy a vast collection of exotic plants. It was a royal residence until the beginning of the XX century (almost all the Portuguese kings lived here), when the monarchy was abolished in Portugal. Founded in 1540, this convent features of various eras. In this monument are the main façade, the taste, the filipino side, with its three-story portico, (being the last Baroque, with pediment crowned by the Royal shield). A special attention to the balcony of Kings, five arches Gallery to the left side of the portico, the two cloisters and the interior, with three naves, with all its decoration. Currently, works here the Municipal Museum Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso.

Civil construction from the 17th century, with ten balcony windows, interrupted by the coat of arms of the Mattos e Silva family and by a niche where the image of Queen Saint Isabel appears, alluding to the passage of Dom Dinis' wife through this town who spent the night in a building where this house was later built. During the French invasions, it was the headquarters of the Portuguese-English troops, and the Duke of Wellington and General Beresford stayed here.

The former Misericórdia Church of Mértola houses the first municipal museum of sacred art. This space, known as Porta da Ribeira, presents a unique collection of images and liturgical artefacts from hermitages and chapels of popular worship. Here, the different nuances of humanity's relationship with various references to the sacred are reconstructed, with the exhibition of sacred art from the 14th to 18th centuries, liturgical artefacts, including chalices and processional crosses, and painted tablets.
Museu do Vinho de Alcobaça

The former wine cellar (Adega do Olival Fechado, existing since the late 19th century), which in 1966 gave way to the museum. Here you can learn about the history of wine and appreciate the exhibition of agricultural implements, machines and objects related to winemaking. It has a collection of more than 10,000 movable pieces, of diverse typologies such as oenology, ethnology, traditional technology, industrial archaeology, graphic, plastic and decorative arts.
