The Gerês Mountain has five major water courses. But there are tens of fountains that "escape" that main network, with fine water springs along the mountain. The Zanganho fountain is one such example.

This restaurant's decoration agrees with its name, since the interior looks like a cave. Gastronomically speaking, its main bet are the grilled dishes. It is only open at lunch time.

After operating for several decades as the main supplier of fruits, vegetables, and fish to the village, it is currently a multifunctional tourist and cultural space dedicated to promoting and disseminating local arts and knowledge.

Where once operated a stamping, are today installed this artistic guest house. The architect and owner Jorge Teixeira de Sousa has turned this space into an accommodation in which each of the three floors corresponds to a specific art, as it turns out the décor. The concept of the House promotes three areas: port-wine tasting, permanent exhibition of Portuguese artists, small library with Portuguese culture. The House consists of four double bedrooms and three small apartments.

The São João Baptista fort, next to the recreational port of Machico, was built by order of the Governor of Madeira, Captain-General Duarte Sodré Pereira, in 1708. It is also called Forte do Desembarcadouro because the discoverers disembarked nearby the island, Gonçalves Zarco and Tristão Vaz Teixeira. It defended the bay of Machico, doing crossfire with the fort of Nossa Senhora do Amparo. Inside there is a neo-Gothic chapel, dedicated to the saint after whom the fortress is named.
