Miranda do Douro

Of the original castle, only a portion of the citadel remains, along with some sections of the walls interrupted by turrets, and the Porta da Traição (Traitor's Gate). Several entrances open into the castle's surrounding walls: the Porta da Senhora do Amparo (Lady of Protection), the Porta Falsa (False Gate), and the Postigo. Still standing, but badly damaged, is the keep.

An imposing religious monument belonging to the male convent of the Order of Saint Francis (Via dos Capuchos). It consists of a nave, chancel, and bell tower. The interior preserves an important collection of sacred artifacts: three corbels depicting the crucified Christ flanked by Our Lady and Saint John the Evangelist, the gilded and polychrome altarpieces, the side chapels, and the inner chapel.
