The museum, located next to the entrance to the Roman city of Conímbriga, features a permanent exhibition depicting customs, artistic, and cultural phenomena dating from the first millennium BC to the sixth century AD. These are grouped by theme: daily life, architecture, and cults, illustrated by countless objects and fragments of various metals, ceramics, glass, stone (including sculptures), stucco, mural paintings, and bones. Among other finds, it preserves four milestones found within the city of Conímbriga (Mile CXVI of the XVI Itinerary from Braga to Lisbon) or nearby: two to Constantius Chlorus, one to Tacitus, and one to Galerius Maximian.
