18th century palace of two storeys and v. plant was built in 1727 by the 8th count of Vimioso and 2nd Marquis of Valença, Don Francisco de Paula de Portugal e Castro. This building functioned as casino, high school, home of the Junta Autónoma de Agricultural Hydraulic works, extension of Oeiras high school and secondary school. He currently works as cultural Centre: Municipal Library, Dance Center of Oeiras and Centre for the study and dissemination of ancient music.

The Museum-Library, named after its donor, opened to the public in 1931. During its adaptation, attention was taken to maintain the atmosphere of an inhabited house, highlighting the interior architecture and its decorative motifs. Here you can appreciate pieces of great artistic and documentary value, including works of art depicting Cascais by Portuguese and foreign artists, Indo-Portuguese ceramics, and an excellent archaeology room. The library, with approximately 2500 rare volumes, is also noteworthy; the most valuable work is an illustrated manuscript of the Chronicle of King Afonso Henriques from 1505, with a colored illustration of 16th-century Lisbon.
