Sanctuary in honor of Saint Benedict, from where you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the entire Serra do Gerês mountain range. The chancel and altar are dedicated to this saint, a cult that dates back to the mid-18th century. This castle was formerly a Lusitanian fortification, but it was the Romans who made it militarily important. During the reign of King Dinis, fortification and expansion work was carried out, with six towers being erected and walls being built around the town. After losing its defensive function, the castle fell into decline. Currently, only a few sections of the walls, some gates, and two towers remain. In the northern village of Gerês, on top of a small hill, about 1130 meters above sea level, can be found in granite outcrops several tears, which indicate the foundations of a building almost rectangular plant. The pair of these there are still circular fittings on the side of the same rocks, similar to those used on jambs doors for docking of ashlars superiors. The monastery was originally founded by Dona Mor Dias in 1283. In the 14th century, Clement V granted permission to Dona Isabel of Aragon to found a new monastery, which was established on the same site, with the renovation and expansion of the old buildings. The church was consecrated in 1330 and suffered its first floods in 1331. The degradation caused by the floods led to its abandonment in 1677. The church, with its vaulted nave, is an example of mendicant Gothic architecture. Located to the southwest of Bragançaand belonging to the Ancient Massif of Trás-os-Montes, this is a branch of the Montesinho mountain. It is 12.5 km long and 10 km wide and has its highest pont at 1319 metres. On the top, we find the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Serra, a privileged belvedere. On its slopes several small rivers are born that have several fish species such as the common trout, the barbel and the eel among others. A very pleasant area for strolling, starting with the garden next to the bridge. Continue your walk past its floating pier and the waterfront, enjoying the magnificent views. The Romanesque bridge, with its twenty arches, deserves special attention. If you choose to cross this bridge, on the other side you'll find a pleasant leisure area with a playground, mini-golf, a tennis court, and a restaurant.

To learn a little of Amarante, start your walk along the bridge, in the city centre. This bridge, classified as a national monument, worth a visit to admire its Baroque details and to enjoy the beautiful view over the Tâmega River. Continue your spent by the banks of the River, passing by several gardens that the city offers. Finally, pass the historical centre streets, admiring its old houses.

Pedestrian path of small route with about 10.5 kilometers, beginning and end near the Chiesa Madre (mother church) of Salvaterra do Extremo. Through small rural roads, passes through ancient water mills, various sources and some watercourses.
