All the preserved villages at Armamar are part of a recovery project of the Rural Centre of São Martinho das Chãs. The village of São Martinho das Chãs is quite well recovered, both regarding the houses and the streets, with a perfect preservation of its rustic traits. In the village, one may visit the 13th century church, the Mother Church. From the campanile one has the most beautiful views.

Architectural highlights include the pillory, the main church, the Misericórdia Church, the Stations of the Cross, the town hall, and a 17th-century manor house. Located on the Gralheira mountain, Manhouce has typically regional houses. Most of its inhabitants are shepherds. Even though it is located inland, one may view the sea from the mountain and that may have influenced the women's clothes. It has several roman vestiges, a road and two bridges. A special note to the singing of Manhouce and to the Grupo de Cantares de Manhouce (a folk group) as well.
