Convent built by initiative of Fra Domingos do Rosário, in an area offered by D. Afonso VI. The earthquake of 1755 destroyed it. In 1758 the reconstruction began, being its location slightly moved to west. It is a religious architecture construction from the Marquês de Pombal period.

This monument invokes the Virgin venerated at the Santa Maria do Pópulo Church., in Rome. Built in the end of the XVI century, the building suffered some changes in the XVIII century. The neoclassical front is sided by two chapels and inside are worthy of notice the glazed tiles and the golden woodcarving.

Noble House of Mannerist rectangular plant consisting of two bodies and roofs of four waters. Inside, the Foyer decentered with access ladder to the piano nobile. Originally, functioned as Vedoria and respective barracks, being currently here installed the District of Viana do Castelo File.

In time, the extraction of oak bark was one of the most significant activities of the inhabitants of the parish. Currently, left traces and ruins of bark mills. Is disabled for about 50 years. Ponte construída na época moderna, sobre uma provável pré-existência medieval, de arco com tabuleiro plano assente sobre um arco quebrado. Intradorso do arco em lajes de grandes dimensões. Tem estribo saliente.

This granite gate, located on a wall, is a simple construction, with an ogival exterior arch and a depressed interior. In the medieval age, when there were seven gates, it was meant to defend the city. Currently there are only two doors lefet: the Soar or Arco dos Malos Gate and the Cavaleiros Gate.

Large wooden wheel, one of the ex-libris of Tomar. Located in Jardim do Mouchão, next to the Nabão River, this wheel has pairs of clay buckets, each with a capacity of five litres. It is a model of hydraulic wheel used in irrigating fields or for supplying water to mills.

This street, dated from 1844, was very hard to build because of the granite existent there. It connects the Cordoaria Garden with the Cais de Massarelos, going through the picturesque Largo do Viriato. In the middle of the way you may enjoy the beautiful view over the Douro River.

In the first cove north of the lighthouse, at Boca do Chapim, there are numerous dinosaur footprint trails (round in shape). Looking closely, you can even see the rectangular tail mark. The trail begins where the Atlantic Ocean bed is today and follows the escarpment upwards.

The Ponta dos Rosais is located in the extreme northwest of the island, reaching about 200 meters above sea level. Offering beautiful views of the ocean, the island of Faial and Pico Island on the horizon. The set of this tip, of the islets and cliffs around is classified as a site of Community interest.
