O Arquipélago dos Açores é rico em produtos regionais de origem láctea. O queijo típico da Várzea é mais um dos muitos queijos deliciosos que abundam por estas ilhas. Recomenda-se o acompanhamento do queijo com o pão de milho tradicional.

A sopa azeda era preparada normalmente em dias de festa e a receita varia consoante a ilha onde é confecionada. Prato rico em especiarias como a canela, tradição que remonta ao século XV, desde a época em que as naus vindas da Índia aportavam aos Açores.

Rectangular in shape and covered in a soft sugar coating, the bolinhol, is the flagship of Vizela's traditional sweets at pilgrimages and food fairs. It was at these events that it became well-known, as it was sold wrapped in linen. The original recipe for the bolinhol was created by Ms. Joaquina Ferreira da Silva between 1874 and 1922 and has been passed down from generation to generation.

This museum brings together a collection of sacred art, made up of several pieces linked to the religious life of the population, including a baptismal font produced by artisans from Lagoa, and the image of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda. Open since 2011 in the parish of Peraboa, it allows visitors to learn about the manufacturing process of the famous Serra da Estrela cheese, one of the hallmarks of this region. Through a route enriched with 2D and 3D projections, visitors discover everything involved in the production of Serra cheese, from how it was made in the past to modern methods. At the end, there is a cheese tasting.

The Quinta da Encosta has judiciously selected works of art, representative of 20TH century Portuguese art, including pieces created by some of the most important artists of this period. The painting collection includes canvases by artists like Júlio Resende, José de Guimarães, Rogério Ribeiro, Julião Sarmento or Álvaro Lapa, among many others.
