Statue depicting a dagger, or in transporting varina of fish through the streets. An allusion to the maritime activity in the area.

Statue to commemorate Manuel Fernandes Tomás, a scholar and a thinker who cared about the evils of the fatherland. Became known as former Deputy to Cortes Generales in 1821.

The Praça do Comércio owes its name to the intense commercial activity that it used to have, before the opening of the D. Pedro V Market. At the square ends are the São Tiago Church, Romanic style, and the São Bartolomeu, from the baroque period. Also worthy of notice are the pillory and the XVII and XVIII centuries buildings around.

Rua Ferreira Borges spans from the toll to the Church of Santiago and, from this, extends to Rua Visconde da Luz until May 8 square. Along these streets you can find several buildings with architectural interest.

Chapel composed by a nave and a main-chapel. The main front is sided by two bell towers. Inside, are worthy of notice the stone retable, with a central sacrarium, and the pulpit, from the XVII century.

Vernacular Chapel of longitudinal plant, consisting of a chancel, a vestry and an attachment adossados. Featured, inside, the altarpiece in stone dating from the 16th century and, abroad, for the font embedded in the wall, which is believed to have been devotional.

This arch is the best kept structure of the ancient Coimbra’s wall, which corresponded to the main entrance in the city during the Islamic period. On the arch is the sculpture of our Lady, the national arms and the symbol of the city foundation.

Baroque fountain of backrest consisting of three separate panels by pilasters, three cocks and a water tank. It was built in 1761, during the reign of Don José.

It is a smooth column raised on three steps, with four crosswise iron hooks by the capital and, on top, an armillary sphere crowned with Christ’s cross.
