This building is dated from the XVIII century and originally it served as a store for the family Cabral laces. In 1997 the building was recovered and adapted bearing in mind that it would be the home form the Ecomuseum do Zêzere which was officially opened in 2000.

The biggest attraction of São João do Monte is a most lovely river beach, at the centre of the parishe's siege, with magnificent lawns and plenty of shade. It has roman-like bridge, stone tables and benches, nautical support and wc.

When the tide is low, it is possible to gain access to praia do Castelejo. Is usually frequented by young lovers of surfing that justifies the existence of a "Surf Center" and a surf school. Given the characteristics of the waves should be attention to sharp rocks.

The restaurant is a recent, modern and pleasant space, overlooking the Valley of the ribeira do Black. The mixed Grill and mackerel in sertã are the specialties of the House. If you prefer you can opt for the grilled cod or the traditional corn cake yeast.
