The former jail and "Domus Municipalis," one of the oldest and most emblematic buildings in Praça-Forte, now houses memories of the most significant moments in Valença's history. The archaeological remains, a glimpse into the medieval fortification, and the military heyday of Praça-Forte in the 18th century are the highlights of this center.

Fortress built in the XVII century to protect the city against pirates’ attacks, being enlarged in the XVIII century. It was used with military ends until 1992, year in which it was given to the Regional Government, which turned it into a cultural space, so that now is the Contemporary Art Museum.

The church was founded in 1719 and built, as it is now, in 1753 by Inácio de Oliveira Bernardes. The façade is ended with two strong towers. The inside, lined with rich materials, has the tomb of the queen Dona Mariana Vitória, sculpted by Machado de Castro, classified as National monument.

A very rocky beach separated by a small inlet that can be crossed on foot at low tide. The existing restaurants serve typical dishes at high prices. It used to be the private property of the Counts of Castro Guimarães, whose palace now functions as a museum, with direct access to the sand.

Chapel of Baroque, Rococo and neoclassical architecture. On this site I met two convents, a built in XIIIth century and another in the 14th century, however, were both destroyed and, in the eighteenth century, sent to erect the current construction. Featured for the side and main portal and, inside, the altarpiece-mor neoclassical.

Tribute to DOM Gualdim Pais, Portuguese Crusader, Templar Friar and Knight of Afonso I of Portugal (1128-1185) and founder of the city of Tomar, where he established the order of the temple, which became Grand Master. Despite being buried in Tomar, born in Amares, in the year 1118.

Bathing area located on the south coast of the island. The area is known for the famous Battle of Salga, which was fought here between a Castilian landing force and the troops that, in the name of Dom António I, defended the island. Currently, it is a leisure area with a campsite, a small harbor and a natural swimming pool.
