Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II

Placed on the north side of Rossio, the National Theatre Dona Maria II, which name pays homage to the daughter of Dom Pedro, was built in the 1840s by the Italian architect Fortunato Lodi. The façade of this neoclassic building is composed by six columns coming from the São Francisco Convent and is ended by a triangular fronton where the figures of Apollo and the Muses are sculpted. On top of the fronton is possible to see the statue of Gil Vicente, maybe the most important Portuguese dramaturge of all times, considered to be the father of the national theatre.

The ruins discoveries show floors of what was probably a locker room with the area of the hypocaust and a room with polychrome mosaic pavement. Were still gathered stems and bases of columns, Roman coins, wings and beaks of amphora, ceramics, glass and other material on this site which was a Roman rustic village. Are classified as Property in the public interest.
Forte de Lovelhe / Forte de São Francisco

Small fort, pentagonal in plan and composed of five irregular bastions. It has no foundations, resting directly on the natural soil. Its construction began in 1642 and 1663, during the Restoration Wars, and was then restored in 1797. In 1809, it was destroyed by General Soult's troops, and is currently in ruins. This fort is located very close to the Lovelhe archaeological site.

The space of the Solar do Bacalhau restaurant is huge and occupies an old name of gastronomic reference in Coimbra. In 1988, the Praia Grande was classified a "Praia Dourada” (meaning golden beach) by the Ministry of the Environment. To highlight the event, a walking trail is proposed to all that visit the beach. The tour is designed so that visitors can best enjoy and appreciate the landscape and existing natural heritage. The trail is split into two walking paths, each around two kilometers long. These are: the trilho nascente (rising sun trail) and the trilho poente (setting sun trail).
