Tourém is one of the most non-typical borderline areas in Portugal. A village of old houses and narrow dirt roads, plus a small bridge on the Tourém - Selas river dam, that separates Portugal and Spain. Sometimes the flocks go eat on any side of the border and force the cars to stop for a while.

At the João Mendonça Street, by the Central canal, you find three buildings with interpreting Arte Nova façades. Through this canal where, in ancient times, all the commerce of the city used to concentrate, now flow the coloured moliceiros boats that dazzle the tourists. At the angle formed by the Central and Pirâmides canals, is the Rossio: ample, garden-like, with palm-trees lined up and arte Nova details. In this Museum are exposed various materials from the municipality of Monforte, mostly Roman, collected during the excavations in the Roman villa of Torre de Palma. All objects found are grouped by categories like "Roman Necropolis", "Roman coins", "Agriculture and construction Material," "costume" and "weaving and kitchen and table". Highlight is some stucco paintings (on the site of the altar mor), and some carved granite columns. Are classified as Property in the public interest.

This old lighthouse, currently in ruins, was severely damaged during the earthquake of July 9, 1988. The site deserves a visit by the fantastic views that delivers, with the sea and the island of São Jorge in the distance.

Here you can see rock formations containing fossils of prehistoric creatures, some over 480 million years old. This site is part of the "Fossil Trail" hiking trail.

The Louções Hill belongs to the Natural Park of the Sâo Mamede Hill. It has pre-historic sites with cave paintings, such as the Gruta da Igreja dos Mouros (Cave of the Moors' Church).

Sited at the Avenida da Boavista, the Green Center has 19 commercial establishments, some of each being restaurants, divided in an 800m2 commercial area. It is still a residential and office building.

Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the historic center of Guimarães is a clear example of the preservation of a medieval urban core, in what is now a modern city.
