A Gothic castle, imposing and austere, where the summit towers with spires and four pinnacles stand out as ornamentation. The walls are protected by crenellated embrasures and loopholes. Outside the walls, it is worth visiting the Chapel of Our Lady of the Incarnation and the Chaplaincy House, in 17th-century Baroque style. The population moved to the vicinity of the castle attracted by the trade of goods that took place there, giving rise to the current city.

Museum located in the old building of the power station, which aims to recreate the environment of the mines of Lousal, being an integral part of the Foundation Frédéric Velge. These mines were extracted copper pyrites, between 1900 and 1988. The building consists of two sections with sober and well-proportioned lines, already revealing a neoclassical taste. In 1802, the two lateral sections were linked by a large triumphal arch, commemorating the visit of D. João IV. Inside, the highlight is a room with mural paintings, of the Pillement type, and the Convention Room, with maritime and mythological scenes. It was transformed into a hotel, but maintains its original design.

Founded in 1059 according to popular tradition, although the oldest documentary reference dates back to 1099, the Monastery of Pombeiro enjoyed privileges and justice of its own as early as 1112, as evidenced by the Charter of Couto granted on that date by D. Building formed by two separate volumes with different eras of construction: a 17TH century and another in the 18th century. The first presents a simple facade, in granite, with Renaissance-style balcony. The second displays a door with coat and six Windows of the facade, all of apron. The House has a 17th century chapel located near the second body. In this temple stands the Mannerist portal with the coat of arms of the Bishop of Porto.
