Upon arrival, a viewpoint with a chapel awaits us, from which the name of the beach derives. Located between cliffs, this beach offers excellent conditions for pleasant days in the sun. The beach has a concession area, as there are several tourist sets nearby. Boats depart from here to visit the cliff caves that abound here.

On a narrow, flat beach, after a steep descent made by many steps, is this beach, used largely by tourists from the hotel sets that surround the area. The sea invites you to some nautical activities or swimming. The water is of good quality.

This is the main bathing center in Lagoa. Today it continues to be a fishermen's beach, access to which has been redeveloped. Thus, walking along the streets and alleys with restricted car access, heading towards the sea, the beach appears, close to the commercial area. The beach is not extensive, it is narrow and relatively small and has a concession area. To get to know this part of the coast better, we suggest renting a boat that will take bathers to see the caves.

This was the first golf course in Madeira, built in 1937 and then redesigned in 1991 by the famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones. Overlooking Machico Bay, it has three courses, each with two par-5s, two par-3s and five par-4s. The "Machico" and "Desertas" courses are those usually used during the Madeira Open, while the "Serras" course, gently flat, maintains the level of play. Santo da Serra hosts the Madeira Open annually, a tournament integrated into the PGA European Tour.

The São João Baptista fort, next to the recreational port of Machico, was built by order of the Governor of Madeira, Captain-General Duarte Sodré Pereira, in 1708. It is also called Forte do Desembarcadouro because the discoverers disembarked nearby the island, Gonçalves Zarco and Tristão Vaz Teixeira. It defended the bay of Machico, doing crossfire with the fort of Nossa Senhora do Amparo. Inside there is a neo-Gothic chapel, dedicated to the saint after whom the fortress is named.

Ponta de São Lourenço is a peninsula classified as a Partial Natural Reserve, and the islet of Desembarcadouro as an Integral Natural Reserve, both integrated into the Madeira Natural Park and on the list of Sites of Community Interest in the Natura 2000 Network. It consists of some volcanic hills of recent origin and steep and very high rocky cliffs that fall steeply into the sea, featuring some caves and pebble coves. Along the coast there are two main islets: Desembarcadouro and Farol. There are some endemic plants and protected animal species such as the sea lion.
