The construction of this bridge dates from 1913, with the goal of establishing communication between the parishes of Salvador and de Santo Aleixo de Plus-Tâmega that before was for "fillies" and "prey" which allowed the passage to Ford and, later, by ferries. O Museu do Ouro está instalado numa oficina de ourivesaria da Casa de Alfena (hoje uma unidade de Turismo de Habitação) e faz parte de um conjunto de oficinas, datadas do século XVIII. Este espaço pretende dar a conhecer a identidade de uma comunidade ligada ao trabalho de ouro, desde tempos ancestrais. O museu resulta dos esforços de um ourives de Travassos, Francisco de Carvalho e Sousa, que, ao longo de cinquenta anos de actividade, foi recolhendo objectos de ouro, utensílios e mobiliário, agora aqui expostos.
