Bastioned fortress built at the end of the 17th century and beginning of the 18th century by Dom Pedro II. It was part of the defensive plan of the Portuguese coast and aimed to protect the entrance to the Cávado River. It has a rectangular plan and at each angle there is a bastion and a guardhouse. Between the walls, which are quite ruined, the Lighthouse Tower stands out.

Beach with good access, with long and clean sand, with some dunes where you can see typical windmills. There are conditions to practice a handful of sports, ranging from volleyball to football, including sport fishing and extreme windsurfing, surfing and bodyboarding. It is located in the Esposende Coastal Protected Landscape area and has a scout camp, a holiday camp and a children's playground. There is also a pleasant library on the beach. Artisanal fishing and sargassum collection are activities that still continue on this beach.

The coastal strip between the mouth of the Neiva River and Apulia, with a length of 18 kilometers, constitutes an ecosystem of rare importance, dominated by a stretch of sandy beach and primary and secondary dunes of great instability and at risk of erosion. The estuaries of the Neiva and Cavado rivers, as well as the pine forests and agricultural/rural areas, have just made up this protected landscape. In the rear, maritime pines protect much of the dune extension.
