Located in the historic center of Miranda do Douro, in a 17th-century building, this museum collects, preserves, and exhibits the region's cultural, ethnographic, and artistic heritage. It was founded in 1982 in a 17th-century building that previously served as city hall and municipal jail.

In this space, located in the historic centre, one can get acquainted with the legacy of two modern sculptors: Artur dos Anjos Teixeira and his son Pedro Augusto dos Anjos Teixeira, with a special note to figurative woman and animal works in clay, marble and bronze.

On a platform next to the River, on an ancient Roman necropolis were still visible a few decades the ruins of a chapel that the tradition called São Sebastião. The construction of the high school and a Sports Pavilion have motivated an archaeological intervention, which in turn led to change the deployment of new equipment. Today, on site, plus a part of the Roman necropolis can be visited, is open to visitors the chapel of St. Sebastian, completely rebuilt, where is exposed the main espolio exhumed.

The reserve officially opened in 1976, offering visitors extensive green spaces, picnic areas, a playground, sports courts, shelters, and enclosures with various animal species. Also located here are the Chapel of Saint John, the niche of Saint Isidro, and the Monument to the Emigrant.

The official name of this empire is Empire of recognition and beneficence, and in 1760 was erected in memory of the volcano eruption of Cabeço do Fogo, which occurred in April 24, 1672. It is believed to be the first empire built of stone and lime, as opposed to improvised empires that were until then.
