It takes place from August 17 to August 23. It is also a cattle and horse fair. The fair also features regional, craftswork products. One of its most traditional events is the Tourada da Vara Larga (a bullfight), an old custom of the Ovil parish.

An 18 kilometres long pedestrian walk that lasts about 5 hours. Along the way you may observe the beauty of the Laurissilva forest with its countless waterfalls. Once at the Caldeirão Verde there’s one more waterfall with about 100 metres, ending in a clear water lagoon.

A dormant volcano, located in the Caldera Guilherme Moniz. One can go down to a depth of 100 metres to get to a lagoon with crystal clear waters. Way down below, a special note to the set of stalactites and stalagmites of volcanic glass. This cave is classed as a Regional Natural Monument.

Small garden next to the Railway station, where an old news stand is now used as a box-office. In the centre is the sculpture of the “Homem do Leme” (the man in the rudder), by Francisco Santos and, among the vegetation, a art nouveau glazed tiles panel: The Seagull.

Temple from the 13th century. It appears to have been part of a Convent of Benedicts, still in the period when the town was called Nabância. It was rebuilt by D. Gualdim Pais, in 1160, who made it the pantheon of the Templars in Portugal. Its structure presents transition elements from the Romanesque to the Gothic style, the latter being predominant.
