The former Convento das Mónicas was founded in 1586 by the Abranches family, being then donated to the nuns. It kept is original drawing until the earthquake of 1755 when part of the church collapsed. After the extinction of the religious orders in 1836, the State transformed the building into a reformatory and later into a women’s prison.

The donjon was built in the beginning of the 20th century. XIV. Keeps the vaults in warhead and the two floors: the bottom was a prison and after weapons Depot; the superior served as noble room of the alcaidaria, with Gothic door and a window that had already been reported in the 16th century drawing of Duarte Dharmas.

Commercial space with 60 shops placed in the remodelled Praça de Touros do Campo Pequeno, combining three different areas: commercial, events and tauromachic. The shopping centre is right in the heart of the city, with good highway access and its own metro station. It also has a modern cinema complex with 8 rooms.

To discover the charms of the riverside area of Lagos, there is nothing better than walking along the sidewalk, in Portuguese pavement, of Avenida dos Descobrimentos. It is a pedestrian area par excellence, full of palm trees and very popular in summer. The river lends it a nostalgic and quite atmosphere.
