It was then remodelled in the 17th and 18th centuries. Inside are murals, chronicling nine moments of life of St. Peter. The paintings have a baroque nature and are subtitled in archaic Portuguese. This church was built in 1737, with the houses of the fraternity of St. Peter, showing a simple architecture. In 1782 is granted a Royal provision that authorized the expansion of the Church. In 1880, the Junta Magna of the brotherhood authorizes the start of work, after approval by the Association of Architects of Lisbon. After a year start the works, having been demolished the houses of the brethren, and the job ended only in the early 20th century.

Commissioned in 1393 by Constable D. Nuno Álvares Pereira, on the site where his standard was raised at the Battle of Aljubarrota, the Chapel of St. George is a small building with a chancel featuring a coffered vault whose keystone depicts a pelican. The interior is simple, with notable features including the slender columns of the triumphal arch on the main altar and the symbols of King João II on the keystone of the ribbed vault.
