The rice Museum Restaurant opened its doors in June 1996, on the premises of the former rice hulling factory gate. The gardens of the Palace of Queluz are a result of the sinthesis of decorative elements inspired by the 18th century French baroque, which is only natural since the construction was ordered by Dom Pedro according to the model of the Palace of Versailles. Almost abandoned, the Palace of Queluz was restored in the 1930s for the 1940 Exposição do Mundo Português (Exhibition of the Portuguese World). Currently, one can still see the lakes of Neptune and Amphitritis, the sets of sculptures and a part of the big lake.

Built in the 13th century to house the mendicant order of San Francisco, it underwent several renovations in the following centuries, with the Mannerist façade dating back to 1635. In the second half of the 19th century, in the convent area, it was built the Military Hospital and, later, the Duke of Bragança Asylum. Among the various 18th century altarpieces it has, the one in the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição stands out, in which some rocaille applications are notorious.

The construction of the Cape Espichel lighthouse, dating back to 1790, is linked to the first attempt of lighting up the Portuguese shoreline (known as the "dark coasts" by the British sailsmen until the second half of the 18th century). The lighting system was changed only in 1883. From then on, ther were several changes made in order to improve the signaling, both of sound and vision. Currently, the lighthouse can be viewd from a distance of 26 miles and is fully automated.
