You can visit the famous Almourol Castle, one of the best-known Portuguese monuments, by crossing on the City Council's recreational boat, which has a capacity of 50 people.

This museum, inaugurated in 1992, aims to portray what was once one of the main economic activities of the municipality: the cultivation of vines and the production of wine. Reservations are required at the Municipal Library to visit.

The São João Baptista Church has carved altars, a font and old elements of decorative art, sculpted and painted. This church was built in the middle of the XVII century. It is a large building with a consistent architecture. The altar deserves a careful look: the rich decoration, the tribune, the pelmets and the golden carving are examples of that.

This house belonged to the General João Sarmento Pimentel that, during the Seven Years War, was in Calais. The name of the house is due to the fact that the soldiers thought it looked like the inhabitants of that village, thus naming it Calaínho. It is a house with a coat of arms with a shield that has the arms of the Sarmentos, Pomentéis, Morais and Ferreiras.

Beach with caves of rare beauty, with a small stream emptying into the sand. The access is not of the easiest, as it is done by isolated paths and, sometimes, on dirt. Offers good conditions for the practice of spearfishing. It is usually frequented by nudists or by tourists looking for deserted beaches and very quiet. Don't have any kinds of infrastructures.

With the sea on the horizon, a pine forest precedes the extensive sandy area, characterized by its variety of plant species. Its location gave rise to a luxury urbanization, with the same name as the beach. Access is via a wooden pedestrian bridge. Look for the traces of Roman ruins by the sea that this place preserves.

Built in the 1930’s, the name of this garden with romantic characteristics is due to the former owner of this area, the judge of the high court Cunha Thorel. It has interesting flower beds, lovely shades, and small corners giving you privacy and a great view of down town. The Torel garden also has an elegant gate, two lakes, one of them with an old spring, a statue representing the bust of the piano player Viana da Mota, card-tables and traces of what might have been, during the XVII and XVIII centuries, a magnificent farm.

Corresponding to a typology of monument that only six copies in Portugal, the decor features used on this memorial are its construction in the mid-13TH century. Originally located along the road that came from the medieval port and crossed the parish of Paço de Sousa, was moved from its original position due to the transformation of the road network. It is thought that this type of construction is related to the placement of graves, the evocation of memory of someone or with the passage of funeral processions. A visit to the Ervamoira Museum will introduce you to the various areas linked to the history of the site and the Douro wine industry: Natural Heritage, Roman and Medieval Archaeological Heritage, Ethnographic Heritage, the history of Casa Ramos Pinto, the Estates and the Viticulture of the Upper Douro.
