O inhame, também conhecido como coco na ilha de São Jorge, é um tubérculo semelhante à batata-doce e pode ser cozido, assado ou frito. Assume um papel muito importante na gastronomia dos Açores, servindo como base de alguns pratos tradicionais. Pode também acompanhar torresmos, enchidos fumados e outros preparados de carne de porco.

This 17th century building is shaped like a four-pointed star, each protected by guardhouses. The vestiges of this defensive fort can be seen on Avenida Doutor Antunes Guimarães, Rampa do Castelo and Rua de Santa Catarina. It began to be built in 1638, but in 1655 it was still not completed. In 1832, during the civil war, it underwent some modifications and, in the 20th century, it was handed over to the Captaincy of the Port of Leixões, which carried out works to house its staff there.

A house with a rectangular plan and two floors, construction attributed to the House of Bragança. The "Paços do Concelho", the Courthouse and the Municipal Administration were located here until the beginning of the 20th century. Later it had other functions, namely Jailhouse of the parish on the first floor that still has windows with iron bars. On the south façade, one can view two lateral flights of stairs that unite before the second floor with an entrance topped by the House of Bragança's coat of arms.

At this point, suffered profound changes in its structure, with emphasis on the advancement of the facade with coverage and balcony that opens on the terreiro do toural. In the Tagus marshes, and covering the Municipality of Golegã, next to the Almonda River, Paul do Boquilobo is an alluvial plain of swamps of great faunal and floristic importance. Here the water rises and falls, is still or moving and the land area increases and decreases depending on the season. It all depends on the flow of the Tagus and Almonda rivers. It is a privileged nesting site for numerous species of water birds (cattle heron and white heron), in a landscape dominated by willows (white and black) and aquatic plants (Caniço).

This mountain range is bordered to the north by the transition area to the Beja clay and pre-clay region, to the east by the Guadiana River, to the west by the Serra de Monchique, and to the south by the Barrocal Algarvio. It is therefore located in the central part of the Algarve, belonging to the Old Massif, in southern Portugal. The maximum altitude is 577 meters, reached at Pico do Mu, and its vegetation has characteristics typical of the Algarve region. It has very low population density, with a resident population of approximately 70,000.
