With open arms 133 meters above the level of the Tagus River, the Sanctuary of Cristo Rei offers a privileged view over the municipalities of Lisbon and Almada. And, on sunny days, the gaze can even reach part of Sintra and Sesimbra. Opened in 1959, it was inspired by Christ the Redeemer, located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The monument was built on the promise made by the Bishops of Portugal to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the hope of keeping the country away from the Second World War.

This property of noble architectural design from the 17th century has a "mezzanine" on the upper floor of the facade that faces the street. The openings on the main floor have aprons, where treated volumes in the shape of diamond points were carved. The building was acquired and remodeled by the Bragança City Council in the 90s of the 20th century, currently housing the Library Dr. Águedo de Oliveira/Fundação "Os Nosso Livros", whose collection is considered one of the most valuable in the north of the country.

Anyone unfamiliar with the Aire and Candeeiros mountain ranges might think that their elevations of 577 and 613 meters respectively would be nothing extraordinary in terms of landscape. However, this massif, stretching between Ourém in the north and Rio Maior in the south, is a veritable kingdom of (limestone) stone. Besides the two mountain ranges that give it its name, it includes the Serra de Mendiga, the Santo António Plateau, and part of the São Mamede Plateau. Also, noteworthy is the Dinosaur Footprints Natural Monument.

With around 75,000 hectares, it is one of the largest protected natural areas in Portugal and a must-see for anyone arriving in this region where nature has been very generous. The Serra de Montesinho is characterized by its rounded hills and the valleys the Sabor, Maçãs and Baceiro Rivers. The fauna is varied and rich, with emphasis on the presence of wolves, deer, roe deer, nesting birds, amphibians and reptiles. There are signposted walking paths that are a great way to get in touch with the vast biodiversity.

São Brás de Alportel

This mountain range is bordered to the north by the transition area to the Beja clay and pre-clay region, to the east by the Guadiana River, to the west by the Serra de Monchique, and to the south by the Barrocal Algarvio. It is therefore located in the central part of the Algarve, belonging to the Old Massif, in southern Portugal. The maximum altitude is 577 meters, reached at Pico do Mu, and its vegetation has characteristics typical of the Algarve region. It has very low population density, with a resident population of approximately 70,000.

A sandbar located at the end of the Ria Formosa estuary, accessible by boat or on foot (when the tide is low). Almost untouched, this secluded sandy area is a paradise. Cacela is known for its fortress built in 1770 by Dom Rodrigo de Noronha. From its battlements, atop the hill, there is a magnificent view over the green waters of the estuary and the long dune system of Praia da Fábrica. There are two restaurants where you can savor oysters, shrimp, and clams.

This is the last beach on the West Coast. On the road leading to the lighthouse, there is a plaque with the indication of beach. Between tar and straight on dirt paths to tear up fields of great natural beauty, the Praia do Telheiro. Domestic and foreign surfers are regulars of this site. The beach is narrow and without accidents. North of Cape St. Vincent, the 1 kilometre, is the Bay of Armação de Pera that must be explored, due to the existence of particular geomorphological aspects, as more fully informative Board.
