Às portas de Castelo Branco, esta quinta faz um convite permanente para uma visita em família. Os animais são presença permanente e integram os trabalhos diários desta propriedade agrícola. The path begins in a tarmac road that climbs towards the Pico Alto (587 m), the highest peak of Santa Maria. Then follows up a thicket of cater toward the Floor of John Thomas. Here you can see some plants of the Laurissilva forest, such as pau-branco, Heather, uva-da-serra, tamujo, Laurel, among others. More ahead the Barreiro da Faneca, known as "Red Desert of the Azores", because it is composed of reddish clay soils. Already at the end, still time to visit the Furna DAS.

The Casa Museu Pintor José Cercas is located in the historical centre of Alzejur. The painter donated his house and artistic spoil to the city hall on the condition that the municipality would create a museum-house with his name and where his artistic legacy would be on permanent exhibit. Besides José Cercas’ paintings and drawings, the visitor can also see glazed pottery, sculptures, religious art and valuable furniture from several periods. There is a small garden on the property where visitors can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view.

The space, which is underground, was opened in August 2008 and aims to recreate and make known to the visitor, through the use of multimedia resources, the eruption of 1957 which occurred while along the coast of Faial. Part of the interpretation centre of Capelinhos Lighthouse, with a privileged view over the landscape of volcanic phenomenon results. It also includes an auditorium where you can see a 3D movie about the formation of the Earth, a living room with temporary exhibitions, and the various interpretative exhibition halls: "headlights", "eruption", "the volcano", "Volcanoes in the world", "Açores" and "Fayal".

It is a military monument of great beauty, classified as a National Monument since 1910. It dominates the landscape from a height of 930 meters, in the middle of Serra de Serigo. Built in the 14th century, its current construction is probably the result of 16th century alterations to the original medieval castle. It is a citadel with a triangular plan and a door flanked by two turrets, with small balconies above, supported by corbels and crowned with prismatic battlements. Building where the XV century Porto’s trade exchange ran. It has the medieval arms of the Casa de Avis, which recall the role of the King Dom João I on the renovation of the present Infante Dom Henrique Street. The building was restored in the reign of Dom Afonso V and became, also, the entrance to the Casa da Moeda (mint), from which you still can see the XVI century door. It was the Crown’s and the morgados de Fermedo property, one of the families that ennobled this important street and business centre of the old town.

It is in this square that you can find what remains of the old Convent of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira, the church of Oliveira and the beautiful cloister inserted in the Alberto Sampaio Museum. In front of the church, you can see the pattern that recalls the victory of D. Afonso IV over the Moors, in 1340, in the battle of Salado. A carved stone wall with a niche where you can see a Gothic-style Nossa Senhora is what remains, in the current Cathedral, of the former church of the Dominican convent (1423). Highlight for the side chapels, one with a limestone altarpiece, from the 16th century, and another with a carved wooden altarpiece where a statue of Nossa Senhora do Rosário appears. In 1719 a new Baroque façade was built and in the mid-18th century the high choir and roof were built, and the chancel was renovated. In 1860 the bell tower was built.

The Parque de Campismo de Mirandela benefits from its excellent location, where green and the water of the three rivers (Tuela and Rabaçal, Your), providing pleasant moments of relaxation and rest. This welcoming space, where the home and quiet abound, is an excellent starting point to discover the gastronomy transmontana, the culture, the people of the Earth and all its traditions.
