In this museum the story of Ovar and its people is told. Old regional costumes and delicate embroidery, objects related to ancient customs and professions, examples of architecture and interiors of popular houses make up part of the exhibition. Also noteworthy are the hundreds of dolls from many countries and the collection of contemporary paintings and ceramics.

The changes made by the architect Souto Moura at the former Alfândega (customs) building gave the place another aspect. This exhibition aims to allow the public to know, generally, the communication and transports contribute in these days. One of the big attractions of this museum is the permanent exhibition: “O automóvel no espaço e no tempo” (history of the car).

This 2-kilometer hiking trail reaches a maximum altitude of 504 meters. After walking for 1 kilometer on a paved road, you'll find a dirt path on the right and enter the forest. In this House of the Bairrada region, the fish and seafood are the major stars in the kitchen of chef Gonçalo Soares. The piglet does not enter the letter, where the stews and the fries are the specialties.
